Speed Cart Keeps Getting Better

January 25, 2022 by Steve

Following the mantra, ‘One who stops being better, stops being good’, Sun Mountain is rolling out the latest and greatest iteration of the golf push cart that started it all – the Speed Cart. Improvements on the new Speed Cart V1R include a redesigned handle, improved bag brackets, and more standard features. For the nearest Sun Mountain retailer call 800-227-9224 or use the Sun Mountain retailer locator.

Since ushering in the golf push cart movement in 1999 with the introduction of the Speed Cart, Sun Mountain has continually refined and improved its carts. Current offerings include the three-wheeled Speed Cart V1R and Pathfinder PX3, and the four-wheeled Pathfinder PX4.

Speed Cart opens and folds in two easy steps. The storage tray on the Speed Cart seemingly has a spot for everything including extra balls, car keys, pencil, tees, scorecard, and even a convenient slot for a mobile phone for those who use it as a GPS rangefinder.

Attached to the storage tray and included as standard accessories are a drink holder, umbrella holder, and a mesh headcover tray. Optional Speed Cart accessories can easily clip to the handle and include options such as cigar holder, sand/seed mix bottle holder, battery charger, and more. Other optional accessories include cooler pouches, covers, seats and others.

The upper and lower bag brackets on the Speed Cart are designed to work with a wide range of golf bag shapes and sizes and work particularly well with the Sun Mountain Sync golf bag. In fact, the lower bag rest on the Speed Cart V1R is shaped to ‘lock’ into the plastic bottom of the Sync golf bag to minimize side-to-side movement of the bag. A built-in bracket on the Speed Cart is designed to hold the optional Speed Cart seat or an industrial-sized sand/seed mix bottle holder.

Speed Cart V1R is available in 10 different colors, folds down to W 37” X H 16” X D 13” and weights just under 18 lbs.

Golf Push Carts are Gaining Popularity with Young Golfers

May 20, 2016 by Steve

Sun Mountain’s Speed Cart V1 Sport was mentioned in Golfweek’s story about the rise of interst in  golf push carts  by youth and college golfers.

The article said, “Not so long ago, golf carts were almost more of a hassle than carrying your clubs. They offered no storage, tipped over on slopes, and would have to be dragged across the course on two wobbly wheels. Worst of all, they didn’t look cool. But thanks to recent upgrades and innovation, push carts are finally making their mark in the golf world, especially in millennials.”V1_Speed_Cart

The newest version of Sun Mountain’s category-changing Speed Cart® golf push cart, the V1 Sport, combines the most popular features of past Speed Cart models with new colors and graphics plus it folds and unfolds easier than ever, has an improved brake system, and mag wheels.

Should you carry your bag, push a cart, or ride in a cart?

November 11, 2015 by Steve

The current issue of Golf Today NW includes an interesting article from Dr. Harry G. Sese answering the question should I ride, carry, or push.

Dr. Sese recommends that for anyone suffering from a health condition that doesn’t allow them to elevate their heart rate, but allows them to continue to play golf, riding a cart is the best option.

If you’re a rider, then you need to be sure your gear matches with a riding cart. By ensuring that you have a sturdy, yet lightweight cart bag, (like Sun Mountain’s C-130 best-selling golf cart bag) you’ll be allowing yourself the peace of mind to know that you won’t be struggling to get your bag to the cart or from the cart to the car after a long round of golf.

Dr. Sese continues by saying that if you’re relying on a round of golf for your exercise, riding is not the way to go. He recommends instead that you walk and carry your clubs or use a golf push cart. The push cart is considered by Dr. Sese to be safer than carrying your bag, for those with neck, shoulder, and back pains.

Golf Push Cart versus Pull Carts

September 16, 2015 by Steve

The question: “What is the difference between a golf push cart and a golf pull cart?” came up in a discussion the other day. Once recovered from the ‘really?!’ look of surprise it was decided that maybe others had this question, too.

So, golf push cart vs golf pull cart. One obvious difference is that a push cart is pushed and, you guessed it, a pull cart is pulled. The biggest difference in the products is the number of wheels. The traditional pull cart, or trolley as they’re called in the UK, is a two-wheeled cart used to carry one’s golf clubs around the course. Golf push carts added an extra wheel to allow it to be pushed, and then later generations sometimes added a fourth wheel.

The purpose is the same, to carry the weight of the clubs so the golfer doesn’t have to.

The two-wheeled pull carts were the only option for decades. In the 1990’s the founder and owner of Sun Mountain Sports, Rick Reimers, saw someone jogging with a baby in a three-wheeled jog stroller and thought, “I wonder how that would work for golf?”

Well, it worked quite well as a matter of fact. Pushing is way easier than pulling and is less taxing on the shoulder muscles, muscles better used on the swing than on pulling a cart.

New for 2014 Speed Cart V1 Sport Golf Push Cart

December 3, 2013 by Steve

The Sun Mountain Speed Cart® golf push cart is one of the most revolutionary products in golf. Three-wheeled, ergonomically efficient folding push carts did not exist prior to Sun Mountain’s invention of Speed Cart in 1999.

Sun Mountain Speed Cart V1 Golf Push Cart from Sun Mountain Sports, Inc. on Vimeo.

The beauty of a push a cart versus the old-fashioned pull cart is that the ergonomic and adjustable handle positions arms and shoulders in their most natural position and pushing takes advantage of the forward momentum of walking.

With the new E-Z Latch System, Speed Cart’s patented design folds and unfolds easier than ever, and allows simple handle height adjustment.

The adjustable brackets secure the bag without straps.

The umbrella straps hold a closed umbrella while the umbrella mount secures an open umbrella to shield you from rain or sun.

The accessories tray includes a bungee score card holder, drink holder and a mesh headcover tray.

The handle-mounted hand brake includes a new pin system to more securely lock the wheels in place.

New synthetic wheels with sealed precision ball bearings and solid foam tires ensure an easy roll and require no maintenance.
